Green Day will cover a Rolling Stones track in a TV tribute to their classic album 'Exile On Main Street'.

Billie Joe Armstrong and co. will perform a song lifted from the 1972 classic on the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon show on May 10th.

Roots drummer Questlove broke the news of Green Day's performance on Twitter, writing: “Rolling Stones week announcement: artist number 4 announced: Green Day!!!!!”

Previous guests confirmed for the one-off special are Cheryl Crow, Keith Urban and Phish.

In other news, both Green Day and The Rolling Stones are vying for the title of the greatest band logo of all time in a Gigwise poll.

Green Day's grenade logo is currently languishing outside the top 10 while The Rolling Stones lick is in second spot.
