We couldn’t go to Texas, so we’re bringing Texas to you

We’re pleased to announce that Gigwise will be holding a virtual version of their Official SXSW Showcase early next month in association with Balance Artists. Taking place at 9pm (BST) on 4 June 2020, the broadcast - the first of it’s kind for the website - will be beamed directly to your living room, or wherever you choose to consume your live streams, and feature a four band line-up, bristling with some of the very best in the UK’s emerging guitar scene.

Official SXSW 2020 contributing artists Weird Milk, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard and China Bears will be hitting your screens with some exclusive video content, and Vistas will be premiering a very special documentary with us following the release of their debut album this Friday (29 May).

Tickets for the virtual shindig will cost £5, simply the price of a pint, and all of the money raised from ticket sales will go straight back to the parties who have been adversely affected by the impact of Covid-19. You can buy your tickets below now on a desktop device and from mobiles here, ready for next week's show, which will also be streamed on this page.

Speaking about the live stream, Gigwise Editor-in-Chief Shannon Cotton says, “After the devastation of Covid-19, we’re really excited to be able to bring the SXSW showcase to our beloved readers so no one misses out. As we approach our twentieth year as a publication, there’s never been a better time to showcase our versatility as a brand whilst continuing to create engaging content for our loyal readers. While times are uncertain, this feels like an exciting start to a new era.”

This broadcast will be the first in a series hosted on Gigwise, partnering up with some of the UK’s leading independent festivals and venues, including Oporto in Leeds.

Gigwise’s Official SXSW Showcase stream in association with Balance Artists will begin at 9pm on 4 June 2020. Tickets are available above on desktop devices and from mobiles here and will cost £5.
