More about:

King Nun have detailed a shotgun debut LP: announced today, MASS will be released in just five weeks time on Dirty Hit. The announcement comes with a new single, the measured ‘Black Tree.’

With a cleaner and clearer approach introduced on the brand new ‘Black Tree’, King Nun have announced not only a new album but a new sonic approach to their brand of rock music.

Bass guitar-led and characterised by vocalist Theo Polyzoides’ staccato lyrics with strong Gothic themes, ‘Black Tree’ is unrecognisable from the chaotic crescendo of previous releases.

On the new single, Polyzoides said: “‘Black Tree’ is a hard run through something bleak, and I think it had to be done.”

Referencing the new album, he continued: “[it’s] really autobiographical. It’s full of songs about becoming, songs about reminiscing, songs about making an album. It’s a tribute to teenage angst, to naivety, to memories both melancholic and despairingly sad - to the need to step up to the plate.”

Mass will be released 4 October on Dirty Hit. The track list is as follows:

  1. Mascara Runs
  2. Chinese Medicine
  3. Transformer
  4. Cowboy
  5. I Saw Blue
