Search results rarely agree on one thing: a person’s age. Type in “how old is Tom Hanks” and the answers scatter across 67, 68, 69, and 70, each pulled from a different year’s headline.
Some of that comes from birthday posts that never get deleted. Some comes from articles published long before his last birthday passed. The real number remains the same while the internet keeps circulating stale copies.
Below, verified against Wikipedia, IMDb, and the Kennedy Center, are the exact date and current figure, along with the ages behind his most recognized film roles and the birth years of his wife and children.
One fixed date explains every conflicting post you’ve seen, and it hasn’t changed since 1956.

Why Different Ages Show Up for Tom Hanks Online
This gap between sources explains most of the confusion people run into during a quick search.
Search results mix current pages with years-old articles and social posts, and platforms rarely flag when a birthday number is out of date.
A post from 2021 might still say he is 64, while a 2023 article says 67, and neither is wrong for the year it was written, only for today.
The safest approach is to calculate his age from the fixed birth date, July 9, 1956, rather than trusting whatever number a random post shows, since that date has never changed across any of his biography pages.
Conclusion
One birth date settles all of it: July 9, 1956. That’s the number behind how old is Tom Hanks, and it hasn’t moved.
I pulled it straight from Wikipedia, IMDb, and the Kennedy Center, so you’re not guessing between 67 and 70 anymore.
You’ve also seen his age in the films you grew up watching, plus the birth years of his wife and kids, all lined up in one place.
That’s the part search results usually make you piece together yourself. Knowing the real date means you can stop second-guessing every birthday post you scroll past.
