Green Day have announced that they have started work on a new album.
The band tweeted fans with the news that they have entered the studio to begin work on the follow-up to '21st Century Breakdown.'
''Happy Valentine's Day! Officially started recording the new record today. It's F*CK TIME!!!!" Armstrong wrote.
Meanwhile, Green Day's production of American Idiot has added additional dates to its UK tour.
The musical, which has been a huge hit in Broadway after it's run earlier this year, will embark on a full UK tour next Autumn.
The production, inspired by the band's career, closed following over 400 performances at earlier this year.
The career-spanning set included 'Burnout', 'Holiday' and 'Murder City' from Green Day's recent album '21st Century Breakdown'.
