Jamaican Dancehall Star Vybz Kartel Escapes From Prison, Officer Dead

Vybz Kartel has escaped from a prison in Jamaica after holding an officer at gun point, it has been reported.

According to TaleTela the Dancehall artist fled the Horizon Adult Remand Centre last night (November 29), making it Jamaica's biggest prison escape ever.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is reported to have held an officer at gun point which resulted in death of the guard after he suffered a heart attack.

12 others are said to be injured after guns were fired. The Force Commissioner of the Criminal Investigations Branch has confirmed that Vybz is on the run.

Vybz Kartel was charged with with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm back in October.

Kartel has worked on collaborations and remixes with the likes of Jay-Z, Rihanna and MIA.
