A scriptwriter is to sue the makers of the Hangover Part II, accusing them of stealing his script and episodes from his life.
Michael Rubin is taking Warner Bros. to court, along with the film-makers, for charges including copyright infringement, defamation, fraud and other charges.
After his marriage collapsed in 2008, Rubin embarked on a series of wild adventures than he later turned into a screenplay titled Mickey and Kirin.
The lawsuit, which has been filed at the US district court in Los Angeles, claims the movie "is copied from the treatment… and also from the real life incident of the Plaintiff, because the protagonist in The Hangover Part II travels from the United States to an Asian country to marry his Asian girlfriend."
Entertainment Weekly reports that Rubin blames his ex-wife, Tamayo Otsuki, for giving his story to the film-makers, and then accuses them of defaming him with their portrayal of Ed Helms' character.
In the film, Helms's Stu Price marries a prostitute in Las Vegas while influenced by drugs, and has sex with a transsexual prostitute.
The original movie proved such a success that a sequel was released this year, which followed Price and friends to Thailand for Stu's wedding.
