Pete Doherty has been charged with heroin possession following his arrest yesterday.
The Babyshambles singer was arrested Gloucester Crown Court yesterday, just minutes after he escaped a jail sentence for careless and drink driving.
In a statement to NME.com, Gloucester police said: "The 30-year-old from Wiltshire who was arrested in Gloucester yesterday has been charged with possession of heroin and has been bailed to appear at Gloucester Magistrates court in January 2010."
The bail means Doherty will be able to spend Christmas at home and play a show with Babyshambles at the Dirty South in Lewisham tonight.
At court yesterday Pete was ordered to pay £2,050 in fines and was banned from driving for 18 months.
