Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard has said fans should expect their new album to showcase a more ambient direction.
The album, which is in the process of being recorded, has been inspired by songs such as Crystal Waters’ ‘Gypsy Woman’.
Goddard told BBC 6 Music: "We're kind of stepping things down a bit because we want to make this next album quite simple, gentle, focussed; just 10 or 11 tracks of really excellent pop songs that hopefully will become timeless classics.”
The producer said the songs would still work in a club, but that they were more aimed more towards “end of the night tunes”.
"They'll be club tunes but not the really banging ones," he added.
"But making songs like that always gives you the scope to do a really banging remix, which we'll probably try and do as well."
The as-yet-untitled album is due to be released in early 2010.
