An auction of over 2000 personal possessions belonging to Michael Jackson is to go ahead, organisers have said.
Earlier this month, Jackson threatened legal action to try and prevent the sale from taking place, claiming the items had “effectively” been stolen from him.
But Julien's Auction House said the self-proclaimed King of Pop had always been aware of the auction and approved an initial press release.
"We're really puzzled and disappointed that he's trying to stop this sale because the last eight months he's known about the auction,” Dareen Julien told the BBC.
"In December he and his manager approved a release that went out, announcing that we're conducting an auction of Neverland and Michael Jackson."
Items in the sale, some of which are currently on display at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York, include Jackson's famous crystal-encrusted glove and various stage outfits.
The possessions, taken from the singer's former Neverland home, are due to be auctioned during a five-day sale at the Beverley Hills Hotel in April.
Julien said he wanted the sale to be “something that's fun, that's exciting”.
