The singer has always been refreshingly blase when it comes to her weight

Adele has posted a photo on Twitter that encapsulates January like no other: it's her in the gym, face screwed up in petulant disgust. Fresh from the release of her new album 25, which included the massive single 'Hello', it seems some awful person has decided she needs to work out before her forthcoming world tour.

The singer has always been staunchly resistant to changing the way she looks to suit restrictive beauty standards. She told Rolling Stone a few years ago, "I don't have time to worry about something as petty as what I look like. I don't like going to the gym. I like eating fine foods and drinking nice wine. Even if I had a really good figure, I don't think I'd get my tits and ass out for no one.

"I love seeing Lady Gaga's boobs and bum. I love seeing Katy Perry's boobs and bum. Love it. But that's not what my music is about. I don't make music for eyes, I make music for ears." She also said in a biography, "I would only lose weight if it affected my health or sex life, which it doesn't."

Since she's launched her comeback, many media outlets have attempted to focus on her slimmer appearance, but she's having none of that either. "I've always been asked questions about my body and my weight and my size and my style and stuff like that," she told Australia's 60 Minutes. "It's a little bit annoying that men don't get asked that question as much."

Now she's taken to Twitter to express, this time in visual form, how she feels about rigorous work-outs. Clearly it's hit home with almost everyone, as it's been retweeted 18,000 times.

Adele is going to have to showcase some pretty intense stamina though, when she kicks off her massive world tour next month. See UK dates below. Buy tickets and get more information here.
