Sony's new CEO of PlayStation worldwide, Andrew House, has said that the release of a Playstation 4 is still many years away.
With Nintendo intending to release their new console, the Wii U, in time for Christmas 2012, it was expected that both Sony and Microsoft would accelerate production of their next-generation consoles.
However, Microsoft bosses recently said that their XBox 360 was only halfway through its life cycle, and now Playstation seem to be suggesting the same thing.
House told CVG: "[I] still characterised this as the early period [for PS3].
"[We have] only really just begun to explore what the potential is for 3D."
First released in 2006, the Playstation 3 has sold over 50 million units.
