Russell Brand has expressed his surprise after Cheryl Cole was dropped as a judge on the US edition of The X Factor.
Reports have claimed that US TV bosses felt the Girls Aloud singer's accent would be too hard for Americans to understand.
Appearing on ITV1's Daybreak this morning, Brand, who is married to Katy Perry, said: “Our Cheryl? That cannae be right!
“Our Cheryl, kicked off X Factor? What the American one? And I’ve come to this country in good faith and they’ve kicked Cheryl off, our Cheryl? Oh no! She’s Britain’s sweetheart.”
Cole was only confirmed as a judge earlier this month. Her publicist has declined to comment.
