Biffy Clyro have congratulated The xx following their triumph at this year’s Mercury Prize.
The band’s self-titled debut beat eleven other albums, including Biffy Clyro’s ‘Only Revolutions’, to claim the award.
In a message on Facebook, Biffy Clyro said they were pleased for the South London trio.
“Congratulations to The xx,” they wrote. “Glad it was an album that we all love that won!”
The xx were hotly tipped to win the award going into last night’s ceremony in London, despite a late surge from Paul Weller.
Other nominees included Foals, Dizzee Rascal, Laura Marling and Wild Beasts. Previous winners include Elbow and Arctic Monkeys.
