X Factor winner Alexandra Burke's debut album won't be released until the autumn, it's been reported.
Burke's record label, Syvo, are said to have delayed plans to rush release the record in a bid to find the “right songs” for the singer.
The tactic mirrors the same approach the label used with former X Factor winner Leona Lewis's debut album, which has sold nearly 5million copies worldwide.
“Syco were planning a quick release — possibly as early as March in time for Mothers’ Day. But they have reconsidered and will now go for the autumn — probably November,” a source told the Sun newspaper.
“They want to wait to find the right songs and let her polish her skills, like they did with Leona. She can then launch it on a live X Factor show.”
The source added that the label “can afford to wait to get it right”.
However, an autumn release would likely see the album go head-to-head with Lewis's second record, which is due following the release of her autobiography in October.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Burke has become the first British female solo artist to sell more than one million copies of a single.
Her cover of 'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen topped the charts for three weeks following her talent contest win.
