Aerosmith have been forced to cancel a gig in Venezuela in order for guitarist Joe Perry to receive emergency surgery on his knee.
Perry, who had replacement knee surgery last March, developed “unforeseen complications”, a spokesman said.
Aerosmith had been scheduled to headline the Solid Fest in Caracas on February 1st, which would have been their first concert in the city.
In a statement, frontman Steven Tyler said he and the rest of the group hoped “to see everyone there soon”.
"Playing Venezuela was my idea of a perfect way to start the New Year.
"But having heard Joe had to revisit the hospital this month, the band are truly disappointed we can't be in Caracas,” he said.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Aerosmith began work on their next studio album at the end of 2008.
