Blur To 'Confirm Reunion For Glastonbury 2009'

Blur will confirm today (December 9th) that they plan to reunite for two shows next year, according to reports.

The band will apparently headline the Glastonbury Festival next June along with their own concert in London's Hyde Park a month later.

Today's reports follow weeks of speculation about the band's future after frontman Damon Albarn confirmed he had rekindled his friendship with former guitarist Graham Coxon.

The singer said in November that more Blur shows were “very possible”. Coxon left the band in 2002, although Blur released one further album without him - 2003's 'Think Tank'.

A source told the Sun newspaper: “It was the reunion many thought would never happen. Graham and Damon’s relationship had become toxic by 2002.”

“But they’ve patched up their differences and are friends again.”
 
“The group have done some rehearsals and are all chuffed with the results. They’ve decided is the time to go back out on the road.”

Albarn, Coxon and Blur's bassist Alex James joined each other last month at the opening of Albarn's opera, Monkey: Journey To The West, in London.

Drummer Dave Rowntree, who has since turned to politics, hasn't spoken publicly about the band's plans.
