John Lennon Lyrics Expected To Fetch 300,000 Pounds At Auction
Handwritten lyrics to John Lennon's 'Give Piece A Chance' are expected to fetch £300,000 at an auction house in London later (July 10th).
The lyrics were presented to comedy writer Gail Renard during Lennon and Yoko Ono’s bed in 1969.
Renard met Lennon and Ono after visiting their famous bed in at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel and asked for an interview.
The comedy writer ended up spending the remainder of the week with the couple and formed a life long friendship.
Renard told the BBC that she didn't regret putting the lyrics up for sale because they had become a “responsibility”.
"I really was getting nervous about it and they went to live in a vault for a little while but I thought, 'well that’s ridiculous because nobody’s enjoying them now',” she said.
The lyrics form part of an extensive auction of memorabilia at Christie's auction rooms.
