Rihanna’s ‘Take A Bow’ has overtaken Leona Lewis’s ‘Bleeing Love’ at the top of the US Billboard Hot 100.
Rihanna’s scoop comes thanks to first week digital-download sales in excess of 267,000 copies – which saw her climb from number 53-1.
Lewis, whose debut album ‘Spirit’ topped the American charts earlier this year, has spent six non-consecutive weeks on top of the singles countdown.
The British singer, who won the UK version of X-Factor, has continued to enjoy massive success in America thanks a number of high profile TV appearances.
‘Take A Bow’s’ opening week sales figures mean that Rihanna now has two of the top three biggest opening week download counts in US chart history.
The singer’s smash hit ‘Umbrella’ was downloaded 277,000 times in its opening week last June, while Mariah Carey’s Touch My Body’ tops the list with 286,000 copies.
Rihanna played an exclusive gig in New York recently at the Highline Ballroom. Check out Gigwise's pictures or her and Lewis below...
