Happy Halloween! What better way to celebrate this ghoulishly good time of year with a soundtrack of our favourite scary songs?

We’ve compiled together 20 songs to mark the day, whether it be through their lyrics, horror themes, ominous music or through sheer brutality.

Amongst those rearing their heads are Death in Vegas, The Specials, Michael Jackson, Britt Ekland, Mike Oldfield and Godspeed! You Black Emperor.

Somehow we managed to steer clear of Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett’s classic ‘The Monster Mash’ on the grounds that it’s far too novelty for our list.
