By the time late summer comes round your friends and trustees over here at Gigwise will be searching for the perfect antidote to the end-of-holiday blues. You know we love festivals and always make that extra effort. Well! Indeed, no effort required for this one, nor second thoughts either when the kind organisers of Rock en Seine offer you a much revered review ticket. And you have a chance of joining us there with if you enter the below competition.
A quick dart on Eurostar across La Manche during the final weekend of August, and it has been thus since 2003, Rock en Seine brings the month to a fantastic close with its feisty array of high-powered headliners and frenzied popsters.
Over the course of three days on the banks of the Seine, the Parc de Saint-Cloud, which showcases a panoramic view of Paris known as the Lantern of Demosthenes, will offer a parade of some of the biggest and current names in rock and pop music.
Immediate Gigwise faves from the feast of plenty includes the feverish duo The Kills, the explosive Ty Segall and unkempt Canadian stoner supreme Marc DeMarco, not forgetting those furious Texans and recently reformed At The Drive In, as well as experimental London popsters, The xx. Even the high priestess of Cornish rock PJ Harvey will be giving us a twirl.
Once again the festival will be a blend of generations, nationalities and sounds, from the spicy pop of Jain to the seminal hip hop of Cypress Hill, and the punchy songs of the Shins and the Lemon Twigs to rich shoegaze comeback kids The Jesus Mary Chain and Slowdive.
And just to be sure (yeah like it needs any further selling), noteworthy mentions of the contemporary electro scene comes via French prodigies Fakear and Rone. And Flume from Australia and Danish super star singer Mø are all magical additions.
Stay tuned to the festival's website and social media in the next few months to find out more and grab your tickets for this must-see weekend or win by entering below. With an ooh la la..and la la le, we'll see you there!
