Sweeping and anthemic rock music that's epic in its scope

This could well be one of those moments when, in years to come, you remember where you were when you saw something for the first time – and in this case it’s Bang Bang Romeo and the video for their debut single, ‘Chemical’.

The Sheffield four-piece have been making considerable waves of late. Radio 1’s Huw Stephens has likened them to “…a Tarantino soundtrack” while the Isle Of Wight Festival’s John Giddings was moved to opine, “They are destined to become a global sensation.” Elsewhere, BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson reckons that ‘Chemical’ is a “rousing, soulful gem.” High praise, indeed.

Written by band’s guitarist Ross Cameron, ‘Chemical’ is a challenge to the idea that love is simply a chemical reaction.

“Love is the one sure thing that can rise above all else,” he says. “Bigger than a hurricane. Bigger than war. It’s been a real rollercoaster trying to convey the emotion and drama that the song has live, but we finally feel we’ve been able to capture that magic on this record.”

It’s certainly a sweeping and anthemic rock sound that Bang Bang Romeo have developed and you can see why they’re garnering so much praise. It’s only fitting that the accompanying video should match music as epic and grandiose as this.

Directed by the award-winning David Dutton, the video features lead actors Ralph Ineson (The Witch, Game Of Thrones, The Office) and Olivia Roach from The Royal Ballet. Hypnotizing and haunting, it gives a taste of what’s to come from Bang Bang Romeo. See for yourself.
