Tony Bennett has revealed that he believed he could help Amy Winehouse overcome her problem with drugs.
The 85-year-old singer recorded a duet with the late star at Abbey Road studios in London earlier this year.
The song, 'Body And Soul', is now set to be released as a single, with proceeds going towards the Amy Winehouse Foundation outlined by her family.
“I was convinced I would be able to help her and talk her out of... taking drugs,” Bennett told Billboard. “The foundation is a great way to turn something positive out of this.”
Winehouse died on July 23 at the age of 27. He father Mitch said she had been clean from drugs for three years.
'Body And Soul' also features on Bennett's forthcoming album, 'Duets II', which also includes vocal contributions from Lady Gaga, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey and Michael Buble.
