MGMT were pelted with shoes during their performance at the US Open Of Surfing festival at the weekend - and you can watch a video on Gigwise now.
The crowd were provoked into throwing their footwear after guitarist James Richardson urged them to do so.
"Everybody give me your left shoe, right now,” he said in jest.
Much to Richardson's surprise, dozens of shoes were thrown at the stage, leaving him and his bandmates to defend themselves from the flying objects.
"That was probably a bad idea," Richardson said as the shoes continued to be thrown, prompting his bandmate Andrew VanWyngarden to respond: “Good idea, James.”
MGMT released their last album 'Congratulations' last year.
