Lady Gaga has thanked her fans for making 'Born This Way' number one.

The single, which was released last week, has reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week.

Lady Gaga thanked fans over Twitter: "BORN THIS WAY IS #1 ON BILLBOARD HOT 100! THANK YOU, I'm overwhelmed by your support, (sic)''

At the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (February 13) Lady Gaga emerged from a womb-like egg to perform new single 'Born This Way'.

Lady Gaga later revealed that Madonna has given her blessing for 'Born This Way' after many fans said it was too similar to Madonna's 'Express Yourself'.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has admitted that she takes the drug cannabis while writing music.
