Trent Reznor has said he is “extremely grateful” to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Original Score
The Nine Inch Nails star and composer Atticus Ross are in the running for their soundtrack to The Social Network.
The David Fincher-directed movie will go up against 127 Hours, Inception, The King’s Speech and How To Train Your Dragon.
In a statement, Reznor said: "When David approached us to write the score for The Social Network we were intrigued and excited to see what we could bring to the project - but truly couldn't imagine it would lead to an Oscar nomination.
“We are extremely grateful to the Academy and very proud to have contributed to David's vision."
The Social Network recalls the story of the founding of Facebook.
Earlier this month, Reznor and Ross won the Best Original Score award at the Golden Globes in Los Angeles.
