Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong is to make a return the the hit Broadway musical, American Idiot.
Armstrong made a host of appearances in the production in September as a temporary replacement for Actor Tony Vincent.
American Idiot's takings jumped $600,000 to just over $1million during the period Armstrong starred in the musical.
Variety reports that the singer will now reprise his role as drug dealer St Jimmy in 50 further performances, due to take place between January and February 2011.
Armstrong composed and co-wrote the musical, which is based on the band’s 2004 album of the same name.
The production has become a surprise hit at New York's St James Theatre, despite receiving a mixed response from critics.
