Carl Barat has said he found it “really emotional” writing his forthcoming memoirs.
The book, entitled Threepenny Memoir: The Lives of a Libertine, recalls the singer's time in The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things.
In a video interview with Gigwise, which you can watch on the right hand side of this page, Barat admitted that putting the book together had been a cathartic experience.
“Yeah, writing the book was really emotional,” he said.
“People that do therapy write bits of their lives and you're supposed to feel the pain again and each time you don't feel it as bad, but I'm yet to see how it goes.
“It's not all pain by the way, there are some good bits too.”
Barat also said that he had always wanted to write a novel, but chose to record his memoirs because “so much has happened that's as far out as a novel in the last ten years”.
Threepenny Memoir: The Lives of a Libertine is released on Thursday (September 30).
You can watch Gigwise's full interview with Barat, during which he also speaks about his forthcoming self-titled solo album on the right hand side of this page.
