The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has asked Nick Clegg to hand over his iPod in an apparent reference to politicians’ music tastes.
It follows his comments earlier this week about Prime Minister David Cameron’s fondness for The Smiths.
He said: “David Cameron, stop saying that you like The Smiths, no you don't. I forbid you to like it.”
In another post on Twitter today (December 4), Marr turned his attention to Cameron’s Deputy Prime Minster, Nick Clegg.
“Nick Clegg, hand over your iPod...,” Marr joked.
The now Cribs guitarist’s comments come at a time when both Cameron and Clegg have come under fire over their proposed changes to University tuition fees.
Politicians' music tastes have long irked many musicians.
Cameron's favourite bands also include Keane, who expressed sadness when the Tories used one of their songs during the General Election campaign.
