Florence Welch has revealed that her second album has been influenced by crystals.
Welch, who performs as Florence & The Machine, is currently recording the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Lungs’.
In an interview with BBC Newsbeat, she said her lyrics were “moving away from gothic horror toward something that's slightly more chemical”.
“There's a song called 'Spectrum' which has a lot to do with rainbows and prisms - so it has taken on a lot more of a crystal theme,” she said.
Welch also admitted that a recent interview in which she said she had written a song about two atomic particles had been taken out of context.
"I did a song inspired by these two atomic particles called strangeness and charm, now everyone thinks I'm going to do an album about the periodic table - which I'm not,” she said.
"But that would be a good concept album though. You could go into schools and get people back into science."
The singer, who is working with producer Paul Epworth, said the album was “ages away” from completion.
