More about:

Wolf Alice have just premiered their brand new single 'The Last Man On Earth' on Annie Mac's Radio One show. The single, fans will be delighted to hear, signals the beginning of the path to the band's third studio album Blue Weekend, which has had all of its details announced tonight, including a tracklist.

A piano-led ballad, 'The Last Man on Earth' rises and falls on the whisper of frontwoman Ellie Rowsell and the same kind of spectacular production that made 2017's Visions Of A Life the Mercury Prize winning thrill it is. Track nine on the forthcoming album, it follows a series of phases, passing through a hi-hat-led section reminiscent of Starman himself David Bowie.

Tune into the new song's video when it premieres at 7pm:

Ellie Rowsell expanded on the lead single's themes: “It’s about the arrogance of humans. I’d just read Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle and I had written the line ‘Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from god’ in my notes. But then I thought: ‘Uh, your peculiar travel suggestion isn’t a dancing lesson from god, it’s just a travel suggestion! Why does everything need to mean something more?’”

Blue Weekend Tracklist:

1. The Beach
2. Delicious Things
3. Lipstick On The Glass
4. Smile
5. Safe From Heartbreak (if you never fall in love)
