Arcade Fire are on course to earn their first number one album in the UK.
The Canadian-based band's third album 'The Suburbs' is outselling current number one 'Recovery' by Eminem in the midweek chart.
Their previous efforts 2004's 'Funeral' and 2007's 'Neon Bible' charted at number 33 and number two respectively.
'The Suburbs' has been praised by music critics, including Gigwise.
Arcade Fire previewed new songs from the record during their headline set at the Osheaga festival in Montreal last weekend.
Meanwhile, Ne-Yo looks set to top this week's singles chart with new track 'Beautiful Monster'.
