Biffy Clyro have described their nomination for this year's Mercury Prize as a “lovely surprise”.
The Scottish band's 2009 LP 'Only Revolutions' is one of twelve albums shortlisted for the honour.
"That's a particularly wonderful way to start a Tuesday. What a lovely surprise!," they wrote in an update on Twitter.
Dizzee Rascal, The xx, Wild Beasts, Foals, Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons and Corinne Bailey Rae have also been nominated.

In order to be eligible to receive a nomination, the album must have been released over the past 12 months.
The remaining nominees are Kit Downes Trio, Paul Weller, Villagers and I Am Kloot.
The winner will be unveiled at a ceremony in London on September 7.
