Sir Paul McCartney made a surprise appearance alongside Ringo Starr as the former Beatles drummer celebrated his 70th birthday in New York last night (July 7).
A full line-up of guests including Yoko Ono, Foreigner's Mick Jones and Brian Johnson took part in the celebrations at Radio City Music Hall.
But it was Sir Paul's appearance at the concert's conclusion that triggered the biggest crowd reaction.
According to Rolling Stone, the singer performed a special version of the 'White Album' song 'Birthday' for his former Beatles bandmate.
The pair, who are the band's only surviving members, last performed together at a gig in New York in April 2009.
Starr turned 70 on Wednesday.
As Gigwise reported yesterday, the drummer had urged fans around the world to mark his birthday by making the V-sign of peace.
