Van Halen have denied reports that they recently completed work on a new album.
An online report earlier this week claimed the band had finished recording last weekend, and that a single was due before the end of 2010.
But guitarist Eddie Van Halen's wife and spokesperson Janie told Rolling Stone: "What is going around is exactly that, rumours.
“I don't have any updates at this time."
Last year, Van Halen revealed that he had written “tons of music” for the band, but refrained from going into more detail.
Van Halen's last studio album 'Van Halen III' was released in 1998.
