Kanye West previewed material from his new album at a nightclub in New York last week, it has emerged.
The rapper played snippets of four songs from the as-yet-untitled effort to a surprised crowd at CV.
According to MTV, West handed a CD copy of the album to the club’s DJ Scram Jones, who then played it over the venue’s soundsystem.
Jones said clubbers “all went nuts” to the tracks, which he described as “real hip-hop”.
West’s apparent move back to his roots follows a mixed reaction to his last album, 2008’s ‘808s & Heartbreak’, which featured auto-tune and singing.
The rapper has kept a low profile in 2010 following his outburst at the MTV Video Music Awards last September.
