Elbow Dominate The 54th Ivor Novello Awards

Elbow predictably scooped two prestigious Ivor Novello Awards in London earlier this afternoon.

The brooding Bury boys won the best song musically and lyrically award for 'One Day Like This'  - the top honour at the song writing bash – ahead of The Last Shadow Puppets and The Leisure Society.

Their single 'Grounds For Divorce' was also named the best contemporary song at the Grosvenor House Hotel ceremony.

Elsewhere, The Ting Tings took home the best album awards for 'We Started Nothing', while Coldplay chalked up the best-selling British single for 'Viva La Vida'.

Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood's 'There Will Be Blood' soundtrack was named as the Best Original Film Score and Massive Attack received an outstanding contribution to British music award.

Other awards of note include Edwin Collins (The Ivors Inspiration award), Smokey Robinson (Special International Award), Eg White (Songwriter of the year) and Vince Clarke (Outstanding song collection).
