The Kaiser Chiefs have in many ways written this review themselves that is to say that Everything is Average Nowadays is as bog standard as you're ever going to get. By no means a shocker, it is nevertheless a Kaisers track by numbers, lacking the spark that fired their previous hits into the stratosphere. Bordering on the political, the song is an ode to the boredom of modern life (modern life is rubbish isnt it?) wrapped in the Chiefs trademarked spiky pop-punk hooks that will undoubtedly get stuck in your head, but not necessarily your heart.
