Riding on the coat-tails of current pop-punk favourites Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco comes this Buffalo, New York 4-piece - Cute Is What We Aim For. With their new single, ‘The Curse of Curves’, they have managed to craft a sickly-sweet pop-punk tune with all the novelty value, yet none of the originality, of their bigger brothers. Lead singer Shaant’s vocal actually gets quite annoying as it veers dangerously close to the whiny & nasal end of the spectrum. The musicianship doesn’t help either with some fairly standard guitar work and chord progression. If the new pop-punk craze is for you, then pick this up by all means – just don’t expect another ‘Sugar, We’re Going Down’ or you’ll be sorely disappointed.
