Mary J Blige & U2 - 'One' (Geffen) Released 03/04/06

Okay, let�s get one thing clear this single is for charity and a very worthwhile cause so we can�t give it too much of a kicking. All that said, musically it�s hard to detract away from the fact that this version of �One� is lame. Which is all pretty strange considering that �One� is possibly one of U2�s finest tunes and Mary J Blige owns one of the greatest female voices of recent years. It�s a bit like veal and ice cream � both very nice individually but they really wouldn�t go together. Over-produced, meandering and lacking an iota of true emotion that songs like this really need, sadly it�s all very vacuous.
