The legendary Les Paul, widely regarded as one of the pioneer's of the electric guitar, would have celebrated his 96th birthday today (June 9).
Described by Aerosmith's Joe Perry as a “true genius”, Les Paul built one of the world's first solid-body guitars, which was adapted by Gibson in 1961.
Featuring Jimmy Page, Noel Gallagher, Neil Young, Pete Townshend, Gigwise's tribute shows the Les Paul being played as it was meant to be - on stage.
Les Paul died in 2009 and tributes were paid from across the musical world, including U2's The Edge, who said his “influence on Rock and Roll will never be forgotten”.
