Elmo Promises Katy Perry 'Play Date' After Sesame Street Saga

Sesame Street's Elmo has promised to go on another “play date” with Katy Perry following the fall-out from her planned cameo appearance on the show.

Perry filmed a sketch with the puppet that was due to appear on the New Years Eve episode of the children's show.

But it was pulled by producers after a YouTube preview attracted complaints from parents. It has been reported that several parents were unhappy with Perry's low-cut outfit.

However, appearing on Good Morning America today (September 24), Elmo assured Perry that she hadn't seen the last of him.

“We’ll have another one. Elmo loves Ms Katy and we had a good time,” he said. “So we’ll have another play date.”

Perry filmed her appearance in March and joked at the time on Twitter that she was "in lurv" with the famous puppet.

Ricky Gervais, James Blunt, Natalie Portman and First Lady Michelle Obama have all made recent cameos on the programme.
