It's the line every parent across the land feeds their children to convince them to keep practising for their grade two music exam: "If you keep up your lessons, you could be like Jimi Hendrix!" Alas, they are lying.
Jimi Hendrix, you see, never actually took any music exams. In fact, he never even had any lessons. Neither, aside from the occasional 30-minute session with more-experienced friends, did The Who's Keith Moon, David Bowie, Arctic Monkeys' Matt Helders... You name them, they probably taught themselves.
