The Simpsons writers have apologised to Judas Priest for an erroneous genre tag in a chalk board gag in the show's opening credits.
In a previous episode of the new Simpsons season (Steal This Episode), Rob Halford and band members featured as special guests in a parody on piracy. In the show, Judas Priest drive up on a van and start riffing on the classic 'Breaking the Law', switching the lyrics to "respecting the law, respecting the law/copyright law, copyright law".
However unfortunately for the writers they refferred to Judas Priest as "death metal" which has obviously angered metal fans across the globe as the band pre-date the genre by over a decade (as well as sounding nothing like it).

Obviously the Simpsons staff were appropriately scolded for their grievous error as the latest episode sees Bart writing "Judas Priest is not Death Metal" on the infamous intro sequence chalkboard.
Hopefully all has been forgiven by the discerning heavy metal and death metal community and the Simpsons now know the difference between the genres.
