Online retailer Amazon has turned back the clock on its homepage to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the release of The Beatles' debut album Please Please Me.

Click here to see the retro Amazon homepage.

Instead of a homepage packed with One Direction albums and Xbox games, the re-imagined page instead promotes 'new and future releases' from the likes of Charles Mingus, The Beach Boys, The Four Seasons, Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald. The page also tips Bob Dylan as 'one to watch'

A 'Top of the Amazon hit parade' Top 10 offers MP3 releases for just 10p, with 'Island Of Dreams' by The Springfields at No.1, with other Top Ten singles by Cliff Richard, Del Shannon and The Shadows also available at a bargain price.

The page also highlights movie soundtracks of the era such as West Side Story and South Pacific and releases from Elvis Presley.

While it has been half a century since The Beatles made their debut, Paul McCartney is showing no signs of slowing his solo career, having announced a world tour to take place in the summer of 2013.

Starting days after his 71st birthday, McCartney has confirmed his first ever Poland gig, and will perform at Warsaw's National Stadium on 22 June. Further dates and venues are to be confirmed.
