Gaz Coombes: 'No plans to be singing 'Alright' in my forties'

Former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes has revealed he has no plans to reform the Britpop band and perform their early hits now that he is getting older.

The now-solo singer, who recently premiered the video for his first release 'Hot Fruit', says he doesn't want to be an 'old geezer' trying to recapture his youth through music.

"It was the perfect time for us to be doing what we were doing," Gaz told Gigwise in a recent interview. "The energy of what we were doing suited being younger. There's a part of me that doesn't want to see us performing 'Alright' in our forties. It's not something i'm really into.

He added: "There's nothing worse than seeing some old geezers trying to be young again by playing their early hits. I find it all a bit strange."

Earlier this year, Mike Skinner of The Streets spoke out against the likes of Blur reforming saying that Damon Albarn 'needs to stop' performing music that is 'a bit mad'.
