Rapper Earl Sweatshirt has officially signed with Columbia records/Sony to run his own record label imprint.
The re-instated member of alternative hip hop collective Odd Future has scored a huge deal to create the Tan Cressida label. Releases on the imprint will be distributed by Sony, which also works with RED, the original imprint which put out Odd Future’s tracks in America under the Odd Future records banner.
Re-joining the group live on stage in New York at Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom, Earl recently performed tracks from the various Odd Future mixtapes, which included ‘Orange Juice’ and ‘Kill’. The rapper recently said of the track ‘Earl’, which he is known for, “There is not a time I want to listen to that”, feeling it sounded “like you skinned your knee”.
The previously estranged rapper is looking to release his own debut solo album, away from the group, which will include a collaboration with female rapper Syd the Kyd. It has also been confirmed that Santigold plans on collaborating with Earl on one of her future tracks.
