After dominating the UK charts for the first part of 2012, Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' has now conquered the stateside charts, breaking sales records in its first week on US release.
The track, featuring fellow Australian singer Kimbra, has topped the US Hot 100 with first week sales of 542,000 - the highest first week sales of 2012 and the fourth biggest in history. It topples Fun.'s 'We Are Young' from the top spot.
Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend' was previously the biggest seller of the year in America with first-week sales of 400,000.
'Somebody That I Used To Know' has been heavily featured on US television recently, having been performed on Glee and American Idol. Gotye and Kimbra performed the track on Saturday Night Live.
