The Mars Volta have announced that they will be releasing their new album in March this year.
The album, entitled Noctourniquet', will be released on March 26.
As previously reported on Gigwise, frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala posted a message stating: “New Volta almost done. Vocals done. Just trying to rebutcher it and finish guitar. In studio until this week then on to Mexico to add more quantum entanglement to it. The sonogram of the little beast is looking very good.”
The eccentric prog-rockers, who played at last year's Sonisphere festival, have released five albums since forming from the ashes of post-hardcore upstarts At The Drive-In; a band who have been causing blog rumours of their own amidst talk of a possible reunion this year.
News broke around Christmas, that the El Paso band had been booked to play a gig in Russia – something which is yet to be confirmed or denied by the band.
The tracklisting for 'Noctourniquet' is as follows:
'The Whip Hand'
'Aegis'
'Dyslexicon'
'Empty Vessels Make the Loudest Sound'
'The Malkin Jewel'
'Lapochka'
'In Absentia'
'Imago'
'Molochwalker'
'Trinkets Pale of Moon'
'Vedemalady'
'Noctourniquet'
'Zed and Two Naughts'
