Green Day have identified Robert Pattinson as the perfect leading man for the film adaptation of American Idiot.
The band are bringing their Broadway musical to the big screen, with the Twilight star band member Billie Joe Armstrong's top choice for a starring role.
When asked about ideas for the leading man, he told PerezHilton.com: "I'm gonna say that kid in Twilight. He’s a good actor. There’s still more to come with that kid."
The musical is inspired by the band's song of the same title, which poses questions to the US government.
American Idiot is scheduled for a 2013 release.
